This was a very measured review. The Democrats do seem to lack an effective response to Trump at the border. Open borders are not the answer. It is crucial to frame the discussion of immigration and border policy in the rather extensive context of US foreign policy. The migrant crisis did not start because of Trump; it began because of the interventionist policies pursued by the US in Latin America. We need to have a more sobering debate about immigration policy that includes the reality of our history. This is a great start.
